The Heidelberg Retina Tomograph II is a laser scanner designed to assess your optic disc and the rest of the retina for early detection and management of glaucoma, macular degeneration and other retinal pathologies. The HRT II uses scanning laser tomography to produce 3 dimensional images, which allow precise measurements of optic nerve head parameters. This technology is purported to differentiate between normal eyes and glaucomatous eyes even before visual field defects are detected.
The unique Glaucoma Progression Analysis allows comparison of images captured over various visit for monitoring the progress of glaucomatic changes that are subtle and may not usually manifest in traditional glaucoma assessment.
The HRT II’s macular edema module also allows our practitioners to measure the relative thickness of the retina, providing an accurate method for monitoring diabetic macular edema and monitoring over the course of treatment.
